Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts is considered by many to be the birthplace of the modern day environmental movement. This page contains my photographs of the pond and its surroundings as well as several quotations by Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau lived in a cabin by the pond from 1845 to 1847 and subsequently published his most famous book "Walden" in 1854. Additional photographs of Thoreau artifacts such as his desk, cot, chair, snow shoes, etc. were taken at the Concord Museum. The photograph of Thoreau's headstone was taken at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
The file size of all the photographs has been greatly reduced for faster webpage loading. The original files show much finer detail and it is from these original files that your photograph will be printed. For information on purchasing photographs click here.
