Tanglewood is an estate and music venue located in Lenox and Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It has been the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer home since 1937. The name Tanglewood comes from the book "Tanglewood Tales" by American author Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hawthorne wrote the book while living in a cottage in Lenox in the early 1850's. The name was taken on by a nearby estate which was eventually donated to the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
My experiences at Tanglewood center around James Taylor's almost annual visits to the music center. I can think of no better way to spend a summer evening in the Berkshires than sitting on the Lawn or in the Shed listening to James Taylor.
